Children's Ministries
Elmwood’s “Children’s Ministries” are designed to meet the needs of children from newborn through 5th grade. (For 6th grade and older, see Youth Ministry.)
We divide our children’s classes into the following age groups:
- Nursery: Newborn – 18 months
- Treehouse: 18 months – 2 years
- Preschool: 3 years – 5 years (who have not yet started Kindergarten)
- Kindergarten – 2nd Grade
- 3rd Grade – 5th Grade
Treehouse & Preschool
We are currently using Orange FIRST LOOK curriculum for our Treehouse and Preschool classes. Treehouse and Preschool classes will be combined for the summer months as they learn about how God created everything.
Kindergarten - 5th Grade
During Bible class hour our children are learning to understand the Bible not as a collection of stories, but one unified story – God’s story of redemption. Over a three year span, our children will use LifeWays The Gospel Project curriculum to journey through the entire Bible.
Promotion Sunday
At the start of the school year, we bring all students together in the Fellowship Hall for special snacks and a time to meet their new teacher(s) for the school year.
Trunk-or-Treat
The Wednesday before Halloween, join us in our west-side parking lot (by the playground) for a night full of games, food, a photo booth, and treats!
Vacation Bible School (VBS)
Taking place during the summer, Elmwood hosts a week-long VBS open to any child who will be in preschool – 5th grade the upcoming school year. Each evening will be filled with a time of singing, Bible stories, games, crafts, and snacks. Our Elmwood volunteers work hard to make sure that each night of VBS is fun for everyone, all while teaching your children more about God and His love for them.
Leadership Training for Christ (LTC)
Leadership Training for Christ is an organization designed to stimulate and encourage spiritual, mental, and social growth among young men and women in grades three through twelve. Its mission is to achieve this growth by developing skills in leadership, Bible knowledge, and Christian service. Each year, Elmwood helps prepare students for the Midwest LTC conference that takes place in Indianapolis.
