Women's Ministry

Women in relationship with Jesus and each other
committed to bringing the hope of Jesus to a broken world.

Women at Elmwood are passionate about building relationships with God and with each other. Our women’s ministry gives you the opportunity to connect with other women like you. Whether you are in the workplace, stay at home, single or married, with children or without, there is a place for you in Elmwood Women’s Ministries.

Women's Ministry Steering Committee

In past years, 2-4 ladies have volunteered to be on the committee for one year. During this time, the ladies worked with the women in our  congregation to plan events and outreach for our fellow sisters and others within our community. Previous events and outreach planned by the committee included ladies’ retreats in the spring and fall where time was devoted to deepening our faith in God and developing a deeper relationship with our sisters-in-the-faith; Saturday morning care and share fellowship breakfasts; college student ‘care’ baskets for the beginning of the semester; prayer breakfasts; cookies for shut-ins; collecting mittens & gloves for elementary school children.

Plans for 2022 are in progress and will be posted as they come to fruition.

If you have questions or suggestions for the Women’s Ministry Steering Committee please contact Gail Ruhl or the church office at 765.447.2874.

Prayer Room

The Elmwood Prayer room has a group prayer time during Sunday morning class time. We also hold periodic Saturday morning prayer breakfasts that provide a time for fellowship, praise, and prayer. Monthly prayer partners are offered, by request.

If you have questions or suggestions for the Elmwood prayer room please contact Ann Vaught or the church office at 765.447.2874.

CHERA

CHERA is a Bible word for widow. The Chera or widow’s group was started to help provide the women of our congregation who are widowed a spiritual and social group with which to meet. The group meets once a month, typically on the third Saturday of the month. Every other month they meet in one another’s homes where they share refreshments, spiritual time, concerns and ideas relevant to their needs. On alternate months they meet, along with other women of the church, for an outing. These outings include plays, trips to points of interest such as historical sites and state parks, and other interesting events. The church van is available for transportation to most outings. For more information, please contact Peggy Linback or Email Our Office.

Men's Ministry

"Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the love of Christ. For if anyone thinks he is something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself."
-Galatians 6: 2-3

Elmwood men meet for small Bible studies around town and at the church building. We have a small group that meets every Tuesday morning at The Downtowner. Another group meets every other week, rotating their meeting spot.

Groups meet as a way to strengthen, encourage, and remain accountable to the Word of God. For information on meeting places and times, contact Anthony Williams.

Senior Servants

"Even when I am old and grey, do not forsake me, O God, till I declare your power to the next generation, your might to all who are to come."
Psalm 71:18

Elmwood's "Senior Servants” meet as a group in the Elmwood Church of Christ Fellowship room at 11:30 on the second Tuesday of every month. Meetings include fellowship time, mutual support, prayer time and a short devotional. The Senior Servants have an extensive ministry of card-writing and encouragement for many - both at Elmwood and throughout the country - who are sick, bereaved, or just in need of a boost.

No one is too old or too young to come join an Elmwood Senior Servants meeting. Please invite your friends from other congregations to join us in this time of fellowship. Bring a sack lunch, a smile, and you'll leave feeling better than when you came!
